Conor McHale

Why did you get involved with IAA SC?
“One of my first experiences in media was the Summer Ball back in 2016, when I had only been in the industry for a few weeks. I was blown away by the sheer number of people who attended and how fun the event was. After recently moving into an international role, I was very keen to get involved with the IAAs, so when an opportunity arose on the social committee I wasn’t going to say no!”

What’s the best thing about the SC?
“I only joined the committee in October 2021, but the team was amazing from the off; everyone was so welcoming and happy to help me out to get up to speed as quickly as possible. Outside of the team, seeing all the plans come to life on the day of the event is incredible and to hear the great feedback from friends and colleagues makes it all worth it.”

What advice would you give to someone who was considering joining the committee?
“100% do it. You get to meet some really talented people, not just on the social committee but across the entirety of the IAA. One thing I’ve found is that the committee is very much for ‘doers’, so if you are happy to get stuck in and be part of a proactive team where you can add value then you won’t regret it.”

How are you finding your time on the committee?
“I’m really enjoying it. Whilst I’m still relatively new, it’s easy to see that everyone on the team has a really close bond which has helped to transition from just being on the committee together, towards building real friendships. After a complete sell out of the Winter Lunch last year, I’m looking forward to delivering some amazing events in the future.”
